The Kilne runtime is proprietary. You will accept its license during install. Read about it.

Releases will be published on GitHub. This page updates the day the ISO is up.

Before you install

Disk and memory

The installer asks for 15 GB of disk space and 1 GB of RAM.

Turn off Secure Boot

Switch Secure Boot off in your VM or firmware settings before you boot the installer.

Try it in a virtual machine

A virtual machine is the easiest way to look around, and it leaves your computer untouched.

How installing goes

  1. Boot menu
  2. Welcome
  3. License
  4. Language
  5. Keyboard
  6. Disk
  7. Account
  8. Summary
  9. Done
  10. Log in

The boot menu offers Install Kilne OS (the default after five seconds) or Try Kilne OS, a full live session. The installer shows the runtime license and asks you to accept it. Screens will appear here once we’ve captured them from a real run.

Check your download

Once the ISO is published, check that its checksum matches the one on this page before you install.

Where to download it

Only from the official release page on this site. Please don’t mirror or rehost the ISO: the runtime’s license requires written authorization for that. Linking to this page is always fine.
